Creating a calming and peaceful environment is important to the healing process. The A+ Trust has helped to beautify many public areas, wards and clinics around the DHB, with donations of art.
Many artworks have also been donated by former patients, staff members and artists. All artwork donations are assessed to ensure they are a suitable fit for the environment and in keeping with the organisation’s wellness policy.
Examples include the colourful, contemporary landscapes which adorn the walls of the front entrance of the hospital and the Clinical Education Centre thanks to the generosity of Harold Coop – artist and retired doctor.
John Papas, a well known Auckland artist, has generously donated several of his own works, many of which enhance the busy walkways within the hospital.
Of equal significance to the art collection is the restoration and archiving of hundreds of historical photographs showing the work and activities of the DHB, dating as far back as the 1800s.
The A+ Trust has funded this worthwhile project in order to preserve the history for future generations.
